3. 'Odin' Simplex 20 HP 5859 1934
Built by Motor Rail Ltd. Simplex works, Bedford. To petrol Locomotive hirers; Ham River Grit Co. Ltd; Joseph Arnold & sons, Leighton Buzzard.
Odin is a very useful member of the fleet, it is fully air braked for passenger use and has a full cab, perfect for cold and wet weather. Unlike Druid, Odin has the original Dorman engine, and ballast weights under each bufferbeam, which gives it more weight and more traction. The only drawback is a reluctance to start in cold weather.
